Ride Rules

THE RULES

The Ride to Provide should be a fun event. For that to happen, everyone should be mindful of each other. We have a variety of folks with different skill levels and comfort zones, so please be courteous, safe, and tolerant. This makes the rules pretty simple: Obey the law and be courteous to others.

This will be an escorted ride and most intersections will be controlled for your convenience. If for some reason this fails to happen, please obey all existing traffic control devices.  We will wait for you to catch up!

THE REQUESTS

As with anything, a little planning and preparation goes a long way.  The following are some suggestions for a worry free ride:

Come prepared. Check your oil, tire pressure, and chain tension before the ride. Top off your gas tank and do your preventative maintenance well before the start of the ride.

Ride in formation, two up, preferably staggered. Bikes with passengers should be to the right. Maintain about two bike lengths between vehicles in perfect conditions. You may need more space in the rain. Try to accelerate at the same pace as the leader. Share the road with other vehicles. If you are passed, allow space for the passer to re-enter.

Be thoughtful and objective about your skill level and riding style.  If you have lots of experience, confidence, and a fast bike, take a position towards the front. Inexperienced riders on any bike should be in the middle and those with a more relaxed riding style should be near the back.

Finally the disclaimer: This is a charity ride. You are responsible for yourself, your bike and your passenger (if any). In reading this section you agree to hold LARC, its Directors and staff, and the organizers of this ride harmless from any injuries or damages incurred before, during or after the ride.

Welcome to the Ride to Provide. We hope you enjoy the event as much as we do!
